Friends of George Street Woods
Everyone needs a friend, especially those friends in danger of being lost to us, those that need support and nuture of the community at large.
This is the aim of FOGSW - to ensure George Street Woods remains a place for the community to play, relax, research and pass the time in.
We are a group of users of this woods that endeavour to maintain the George Street Woods in it current state and let nature takes it course in allowing the woods to flourish.
Natural resources are relentlessly assailed and abused.
Once unique, beautiful, serene and interesting natural resources are lost, they are irreplaceable.
We can build as many facilities as we care to. And when they have outlived their usefulness, can be torn down and rebuilt.
This is not the case with natural resources. But Nature, left to it's own devices, can replenish itself, that is the wonder of life itself, a wheel in perpetual motion - but once we stop that wheel, intervene in the natural order of things, precious gifts are lost and sometimes lamentable conclusions result. A stark message, yes, but one that is a reality
